Brian Cox Defends JK Rowling Against Her Critics

Brian Cox is speaking out to defend Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

The 76-year-old Succession actor says that critics of JK Rowling have been unfair to her. The 57-year-old author has been heavily criticized for her comments about the transgender community.

“I don’t like the way she’s been treated, actually. I think she’s entitled to her opinion, she’s entitled to say what she feels,” Brian told the BBC.

“As a woman, she’s very much entitled to say what she feels about her own body. There’s nobody better to say that, as a woman. So, I do feel that people have been a bit high and mighty about their own attitude toward JK Rowling quite frankly,” Brian continued.

At the same time, Brian also said he supported Scotland’s recently passed Gender Recognition Reform bill, which allows trans people to obtain a gender recognition certificate (GRC) without a medical diagnosis.

Harry Potter actor Ralph Fiennes has also spoken out to defend JK Rowling‘s comments, while other stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have criticized the author.
