Ariana Grande Sings 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' In Response to Rumor She Quit Music Career

Ariana Grande might be focused on Wicked at the moment, but that doesn’t mean her music career is over.

The 29-year-old “7 Rings” hitmaker proved that she can do it all by hopping on TikTok to share a video of herself covering “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz.

It appears that she did so to address the rumor that she isn’t a singer anymore.

In the video, the pop star hid her hair underneath a cozy pink sweater so that she wouldn’t spoil too much of Glinda’s look. You see, she decided to cover the song while getting ready for a day of filming.

Ariana directly responded to the allegation that her music career is over via text that appeared on the screen in the video. “Literally on set filming two musical movies all day every day,” she wrote in response to the question “Why aren’t you a singer anymore?!?!?!”

She then proceeded to deliver a cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” that would make Judy Garland proud.

“Wanted to sing you a little something but don’t want to sing anything that is not ‘Ozian’ at the moment :) keeping to my little bubble for now … done with lots of love,” Ariana captioned the video.

Although she covered her hair in the video, we already know that Ariana made a major change to her look, presumably for her role in Wicked.

If you missed it, the big-screen adaptation of Wicked will play out across two movies, the first of which will premiere in 2024. Ariana Grande plays the good witch Glinda against Cynthia Erivo‘s Elphaba.
