Emma Roberts Says Working with Aunt Julia Roberts' 'Pretty Woman' Costar Richard Gere Was a 'Full-Circle' Moment

Emma Roberts plays Richard Gere‘s daughter in the new romantic comedy Maybe I Do and said it was a “full circle” moment.

The 31-year-old actresses’ aunt, Julia Roberts, famously costarred with Richard Gere in Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride.

Emma said Richard playing her father in Maybe I Do “just made so much sense.”

“I loved him in Runaway Bride and Pretty Woman,” Emma told Page Six at the Maybe I Do premiere in NYC.

“Obviously, he’s worked with my aunt so to get to work with him felt like full circle,” Emma said.

Richard praised his costar and recognized her individuality. “Obviously I loved working with her aunt, but she’s her own person,” he told People. “She has her own career and does things her own way. She has one of the most difficult roles, the straight and narrow among the crazy adults. I think she did great.”

Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, and William H. Macy also star in the upcoming comedy about marriage.
