Alison spoke of how the idea of the sequels came about, saying that “we [all] were just thrilled to get to do it [once]. Lacey came up with this great idea, and I never imagined that it would have the future that it did.”
“I really believed the fans would like it because sometimes you have that feeling when reading a script and are like, ‘I would watch this!’ Then you hope the fans will feel the same way,” she told Media Village.
Alison went on saying that her friendships with Lacey and Autumn Reeser got even stronger when they filmed the second movies in the franchise.
“We were close before and now it’s deeper,” she added. “We’ve had the most meaningful [times] together doing these, and you get to know someone so well when you’re traveling, or when you’re exhausted and it’s 2:00 o’clock in the morning. There’s such trust that we have with each other and confidence. We all have this lovely ebb and flow where we can support each other in the way we work and be there for each other.”
For Lacey, she credited the fans for making it as successful and popular as it is.
“The reason I was so excited for this story to continue is typically these movies end with that last kiss or the characters falling in love, and we finally get to see what happens when they’re in a relationship and what happens in these marriages and what they’re doing next,” she shared with ET. “Are they starting families? Are they having homes together? Are they building their careers? And what kind of complications and problems are they having? You want to see the fun they’re having together too.”
In addition to the fans, Lacey says that the trifecta of having Alison and Autumn on screen with her was a factor as well.
“It’s been an honor to work with [Autumn and Alison,] and to get to know them as women and mothers and actresses who understand what it is to be part of the Hallmark family and to share the stories and experiences,” she shared. “We have had so much fun making these movies. They’ve all been a real adventure in this trilogy. We actually got to go to Greece. We went on this trip together, sharing stories of motherhood and being actresses and being a part of the Hallmark family. It’s a unique experience and I just adore them both and we’ve had so much fun.”
Lacey concluded, “We had the beautiful romantic storyline, but we also have this relationship and love story in and of itself between these three women and how they’ve always been there for each other and they continue to be as they navigate life.”
The Wedding Veil movies are streaming on Hallmark on Peacock, as well as Hallmark Now. The flicks will also pop up on the regular schedule, so check your local listings.
