Based on the 1990 children’s book of the same name by William Steig, the 2001 film went on to become a smash hit, spawning multiple sequels and spinoff series, in the form of Puss In Boots.

The movie follows Shrek (Mike Myers), who lives in a swamp. When his home is taken over by fairy tale creatures banished by Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow), he teams up with Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) in exchange for taking back control of his swamp.
