Joshua Bassett Says He's 'Encountered Jesus Twice,' Received Sign From God Amid Fan Concerns About His Posts

Joshua Bassett is speaking out amid concern.

The 22-year-old High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actor, who plays Ricky Bowen in the series, issued a statement on social media amid fan concern due to his recent tweets over the holidays about dealing with struggles, and finding Jesus Christ.

“Most people I know, including myself, are struggling right now. Please be good to yourselves and others, reach out to support those you love, and don’t be afraid to ask for help,” he wrote around Christmas, adding a week later: “Jesus Christ is the only way. His death and resurrection are historically documented. Turn away from hate, seek forgiveness and come home to Him.”

Now, he’s opening up on Instagram Stories about his faith even more.

“A few months ago I asked God to ‘send me a sign when I write the truth.’ I typed ‘Jesus is the way,’ nothing happened, then I added, ‘Jesus is the *only* way’ and the light turned on in my living room,” he said.

“I have also first hand encountered Jesus twice. The experience’s [sic] were richer and more vivid than anything in my entire life. I look forward to speaking about it soon.”

“For those concerned about me be sure of this: I’m better than I have ever been. The peace I feel is far beyond what I thought possible,” he added.

If you’ll recall, Joshua made a lot of headlines in 2021 due to Olivia‘s song, as fans speculated about their relationship. The two later reunited on the red carpet in 2022.
