Get to Know Mod Sun with These 10 Fun Facts, Including the Meaning Behind His Name! (Exclusive)

Mod Sun just released his fifth studio album and we caught up with him to learn some fun facts to fans might not already know!

The 35-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Derek Ryan Smith, just dropped the album God Save The Teen and you can listen now wherever you stream music.

The album features Mod Sun collaborating with his fiancee Avril Lavigne and he even dedicated another song to her. The album also includes a cover of the classic Goo Goo Dolls song “Iris.”

1. I grew up playing hockey my whole life and was a goalie.
2. I’ve written 6 books all self-published. My first book I ever wrote is called “Did I Ever Wake Up” is all about the power of positivity and manifestation.
3. Andy Warhol is my favorite artist of all time and he inspires me creatively all the time.
4. One of the new songs on my album God Save The Teen called “When We’re Dead,” I didn’t record it until 24 hours before my album was meant to be turned in.
5. I run 4 miles every single day.
