Selena Gomez's Friend Raquelle Stevens Speaks Out After Fans Criticized Her Behavior in 'My Mind & Me' Documentary

Selena Gomez‘s friend Raquelle Stevens is clearing the air after she attracted negative attention for her behavior in her friend’s documentary My Mind & Me.

If you missed it, the 30-year-old “Same Old Love” pop star teamed up with Apple TV+ to share an inner look at her life last year. One thing spotlighted in the project was Selena‘s friendship with Raquelle.

However, some fans apparently took issue with the way that Raquelle interacted with Selena and called her out for it online. She opened up about the backlash in a recent podcast appearance.

During an appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Raquelle appeared unbothered while discussing the online reaction.

“Anytime you do anything public in life, you’re subject to opinions of other people,” she said. “You just don’t even go there if you’re not willing to be able to take the heat. But, you know, the biggest thing for me was that the documentary was a beautiful, beautiful piece of work that Selena so vulnerably shared with the world.”

She continued, saying, “It was her life story, and part of what was included in that documentary was our friendship. Which is special and it’s honest, and it’s real.”

Raquelle pointed out that the glimpse that fans saw of their relationship, like anything you see from the outside, isn’t “the full picture.”

“And the truth is we’ve had a friendship for the last decade because it’s real, it’s honest and I’m so grateful for that,” she continued. “And I’m grateful that it was included in the documentary because I think that it is important to see, and I think it’s amazing that Selena welcomes honesty in her friendships and I welcome that in my life too.”
