'La La Land' Is Heading To Broadway For a Brand New Musical!

La La Land is headed to the Broadway stage!

The film, which starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, is being turned into a new musical for the stage, according to Deadline.

The musical will be directed by Bartlett Sher, and the book is written by playwrights Ayad Akhtar and Matthew Decker.

The planned musical will also feature music from Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who were the film’s original composer and songwriters.

La La Land centered on Sebastian (Gosling) and Mia (Stone), who were drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart.

The movie earned many Oscar nominations and won for Best Director, Best Actress, Production Design, Cinematography, Original Score and Original Song.

“I’m thrilled to reunite with Lionsgate and the incredible team behind La La Land to adapt the movie for the Broadway stage, the next exciting chapter in its evolution,” producer Marc Platt shared in a statement. “We’ve assembled a world-class team to create a musical that will delight La La Land’s millions of current fans and introduce the property to a whole new audience.”
