Diplo Responds to Accusations He Implied Beyonce 'Bought' Her Best Dance/Electronic Music Album Grammy

Some fans thought that Diplo was coming for Beyoncé after she won Best Dance/Electronic Music Album at the 2023 Grammys last weekend, and he’s clearing the air.

If you missed it, that was the award that made Beyoncé the most-awarded Grammy recipient in history as she picked up her 32nd trophy. Because of the high stakes, it was broadcast during the awards ceremony.

When the camera panned to Diplo, some fans thought he said something along the lines of that Beyoncé “bought” the win.

He hopped on social media to shoot down that rumor.

The super producer hopped on Instagram to reflect on what the night meant to the dance music community.

“Grammy night was great night for all of us,” he wrote before highlighting how diverse and inclusive the community was. “it’s the music that had united the world during my lifetime and i’m glad to just be one part of it.”

He continued, writing “Tonight was the first time the dance / electronic category was televised and it was rightfully so.. between me, rufus beyoncé, odesza bonobo… was one of the strongest years for electronic music.”

“Beyoncé album was legendary (i’m a beyonce a stan remember I produced some classic dance songs for her like ’til the end of time’ and ‘girls run the world’,” Diplo wrote. “what’s important to understand was that her intention was 100%. she did the work found the real producers and she made classics .. so she deserves her flowers . and when she won i was just proud to see my nomination on the screen in the huge arena.. Looking at the clip, which is the final slide on Diplo‘s post, he does appear to be saying “That’s my name.”

Beyoncé‘s husband Jay-Z revealed why he felt that his wife deserved to also win Album of the Year at the ceremony.
