Liam Neeson Knows He Was 'Lucky' To Date Helen Mirren

Liam Neeson has opened up further about his past relationship with Dame Helen Mirren.

The 70-year-old actor spoke to ET Canada about 1923 star Helen, whom he dated over several years in the 1980s after meeting on set of their 1981 movie Excalibur.

“I should be so lucky and be honoured to have spent three or four years with that lady. She’s really something else,” Liam noted during his interview, while promoting his new movie, Marlowe.

He also recalled how he realized she was interested in him: “Before I met her and we worked together, I had read somewhere that if she fancied a guy she would imitate his walk behind his back.”

“I turned around one day and she was doing that to me,” Liam said.

He also opened up about their first meeting, saying that they were on set, and “standing with Ciaran Hinds as Helen walked towards us dressed in her full Morgan le Fay costume and we both went, ‘Oh, f***’ and I was smitten. I think Ciaran was too but I was very smitten.”

Helen and Liam have opened up several times over the past year about their former romance.

He was married to the late Natasha Richardson, while Helen wed Taylor Hackford.
