“Why the f*** would I want that job, number 1?” he told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “You drive out to Long Beach, where he owns Long Beach…look he’s not a bad guy,” he said of director James Cameron. “He’s not a bad guy, I don’t think, I don’t know.”

“You go out there, you go to this office and he’s like, ‘I want you to read,’” Marc remembered. “I don’t even know what it was, a doctor, a scientist who drank, I dunno.”

“There’s this assumption that, ‘We’re going to do four Avatar movies,’” he added as a side note. “Dude, I don’t even remember the first one.”

“The only thing cool about auditioning for James Cameron is that he has a museum of James Cameron,” he shared. “There’s a room where you can see the Titanic model and some other stuff from the other movies.

“I’m on camera, I think. I got a picture, a boat, or whatever the f*** it is,” Marc recalled. “I’m in the middle of this thing and I’m totally untethered and I have no sense of character. I don’t know really what’s happening other than there are several unidentified actors and acrobats all around me.”

Although Marc didn’t get the role, he did get a consolation gift. “Then he sent me a box of cigars because he didn’t cast me,” Marc said. “So we’re gonna cross James Cameron off the list of filmmakers,” Josh said. “Yea,” Marc replied.

James Cameron‘s film Avatar: The Way of Water, surpassed $2 billion at the worldwide box office last month, which in turn, makes James the only director with three films to have hit that mark.
