'American Idol' Contestant Reveals Why He's Still Traumatized by Katy Perry, Three Years Later

A former American Idol contestant is opening up about is experience on the show and why he is still traumatized by a moment he shared with judge Katy Perry.

Adriel Carrion appeared on the fourth edition of ABC’s Idol and the 19th season overall. He made it to the Hollywood round and performed a duet with fellow contestant Anthony Guzman.

When it came time for them to perform, Katy had decided to ban a certain song after hearing it too many times… and it just so happened to be the song they had prepared.

“We have officially banned everyone from singing ‘Watermelon Sugar,’” Katy jokingly said from the judges’ table.

Anthony told the judges that they were going to “do something sweet” for them and Katy replied, “Not ‘Watermelon Sugar.’” We then saw the disappointment on Adriel and Anthony‘s faces!

In a new video on TikTok, Adriel posted that video and added a new clip saying, “It’s the way that it has been three years and I’m still traumatized by this moment. I could be getting my beauty rest and all I hear in my nightmare is, ‘Not Watermelon Sugar.’”
