Camilla, Queen Consort Might Have Received a Big Title Change (Report)

Queen Elizabeth requested that King Charles‘ wife be referred to as Camilla, Queen Consort after her son ascended the throne. However, it appears that she received a bit of an updated title.

After the late Queen passed away in 2022, there were questions regarding if Camilla, then the Duchess of Cornwall, would be referred to as Queen. In the past, it was reported that she would be named Princess Consort, which of course changed to Queen Consort following Queen Elizabeth‘s request.

However, it appears that her title might be changing yet again.

According to the Daily Mail, sources are saying that the Queen Consort will simply become Queen once King Charles ascends the throne.

The outlet pointed to the fact that Camilla recently named a space the “Queen’s Reading Room,” dropping consort from the title.

Why would that happen? Part of it might be to make things easier.

“There’s a view in the Palace that Queen Consort is cumbersome and it might be simpler for Camilla to be known just as the Queen when the time is right,” a source explained.

They continued, noting that her official title might still remain Queen Consort while the change would be more in how she is referred to in public.

Already, many sources are referring to her as the Queen in name.
