Ke Huy Quan Makes Major History After Winning at SAG Awards 2023

Ke Huy Quan got emotional on stage after winning Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

During his winning speech on stage, on Sunday night (February 26) at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, the 51-year-old actor opened up about how much the award actually meant to not just him, but the entire Asian community.

“This is a really emotional moment for me,” he shared at the podium. “Recently, I was told that if I won, I would be the very first Asian actor to win in this category. When I heard this, I quickly realized this moment doesn’t belong to just me, it also belongs to everyone who asked for change.”

The Everything Everywhere All At Once star continued, “The landscape looks so different now than before so thank you to everyone in this room, and everyone who contributed to these changes.”

After thanking his co-stars in the film, he also spoke to aspiring actors (just like Jessica Chastian did).

“To all those at home who are watching, who are struggling and waiting to be seen, please keep on going because the spotlight will one day find you… Thank you everyone so much for rooting for me, I will be rooting for you.”
