Jay Leno Debuts 'Brand New Face' Months After Suffering Third Degree Burns in Gasoline Fire

Jay Leno is poking a little bit of fun after he was burned in a gasoline fire.

Back in November 2022, the 72-year-old comic and former late-night show host was hospitalized after a fire in his garage, where he sustained serious burn injuries to his neck, chest, hands, and arm and had to undergo reconstructive surgeries.

On Wednesday (March 1), Jay appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show where he revealed his “brand new face” and talked about the incident.

“This is a brand new face,” Jay said at the beginning of his interview. “It’s unbelievable. What happened, I was working on a car and I got a face full of gasoline. And it caught fire.”

He then joked, “I had been eating a Flaming Hot Dorito when I bit into it [and] it set my face on fire.”

On a more serious note, Jay said, “No no, but, it was interesting. It was all third-degrees so it was pretty bad. It was pretty bad.”

When Kelly mentioned how doctors were able to revive his skin, Jay said, “You’d think I would have a zipper [on my face] now, but no!”

“Only for the second time in my career am I the new face of comedy!” Jay jokingly added. “I got it once in the 1980s, and now I get it again! That’s a brand new ear, too!”

Back in January, Jay revealed he was injured again, this time in a motorcycle accident.
