Kate Middleton Gets Pinned With Her Very Own Leek During St. David's Day Celebration with Prince William

Kate Middleton lets out a big laugh while getting her very own leek pinned on her coat during the St. David’s Day celebration events in Windsor, England on Wednesday (March 1).

The Princess of Wales joined her husband, William, Prince of Wales, for the parade and celebratory events. St. David’s Day is a national day of celebration for Wales and the leeks are symbolic for the members of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

The legend around the leek is that a 7th century king of Gwynedd, Cadwaladr had ordered his men to wear the vegetable on their armor, as to help them easily identify their unit from their enemies during battle.

According to People, Kate mentioned that she missed residing in Wales. She and William had lived in Anglesey during their newlywed years as he trained as helicopter pilot with the RAF.

An attendee of the event, Krystal Cunningham, told the outlet that Kate expressed that “she missed it” and wanted to bring Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, for a visit.

“She’s hoping to take her children there and show them the beautiful beaches,” Krystal added.

This week has been quite busy for William and Kate so far. They’ve also attended a spin class and the Six Nations rugby match.
