Britney Spears Reflects on Touring & the Performance Where She 'Actually Felt Like a Star'

Britney Spears opened up about the challenges of life on the road in a candid new post on social media.

The 41-year-old “Toxic” pop star hopped on Instagram to share a since-deleted post that highlighted an ABC special that aired in 2003 to promote her album In The Zone. She referred to it as “a time where I actually felt like a star.”

She explained how that performance differed from anything she had done prior while highlighting all of the things that made going on tour very difficult, especially while she was under her conservatorship.

“I was in the music industry for over half of my life !!! I was told by someone who directed movies that the music industry is a different beast … especially touring,” Britney started the caption to the post. “It’s fun at first but if you’ve done it for a while, being in a different city constantly gets pretty draining !!!”

She continued, writing, “Well … as I looked back at my career and I realized the one thing that I did that required the least effort … like at all … was my favorite thing I have ever done !!! 3 days of rehearsal, 1 day of dress rehearsal and performing just 5 songs, shot to a T on a TV set !!! It took 45 minutes to shoot … I remember afterwards being like ‘wow that was easy, can we do it again ???’ The lighting, everything was brilliant !!!”

“WAYYY different than hauling 4 trucks and 300 people on a tour where I couldn’t even have coffee !!! Just shedding light on a time where it didn’t feel like work AT ALL … a time where I actually felt like a star instead of my family being the star,” she added.

Britney shifted the focus to the experience of going on the road with her dad Jamie Spears.

“On tour I can’t remember how many women were on the bus with my dad … either way, I would say they got a great deal wasting 15 years of my life,” she wrote.

She ended with a positive message about her freedom: “Great news though !!! Having this new found independence gives me strength every day and the ability to stay hungry, focused, fearless, and honestly just be a good person !!! Here’s to the magic of TV … Who would have thunk it ???”"

It’s unclear if Britney is feeling hungry, focused and fearless about performing again. As it stands, we’re still waiting to learn if we’ll get a follow-up to 2022′s Elton John collab “Hold Me Closer” or any sort of live performances.

If you missed it, Britney recently referred to a song as a “favorite” of hers. One of her collaborators also revealed how they felt about getting in the studio together again.
