Jonathan Majors Reacts to Negative 'Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumaia' Reviews as Movie Becomes Second-Lowest Rated in MCU

Jonathan Majors spoke out about being involved in one of the worst-rated movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 33-year-old made his big-screen debut in the franchise playing Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaia. However, the film was not met with a warm reception from critics.

It currently holds a 48% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, one point about the lowest-rated MCU movie – Eternals.

He addressed the poor reception and explained how it made him feel during a recent interview.

“It doesn’t change how I see myself, period. It’s all data,” Jonathan said during an appearance on Indie Wire‘s Screen Talk podcast.

“I’m a performance within a story. One thing I will say to my team as we’re leaving a premiere if they’re reading reviews, I’ll say, ‘How’s the movie doing?’ I try to clean my plate and take care of my part. The response is: ‘You’re straight. You’re good. They like you.’ And they tell me about the movie,” he added, noting that sometimes the movie was not as well received.

“I look at the aggregate and, Ok, 47,” Jonathan said about the new Ant-Man movie. “But what does that 47 mean when you also got this amount of box office? What do these things mean? It’s information. I am in the know. I won’t play myself.”

He also spoke about the people behind the reviews.

“They have an opinion. You always have an opinion. I’m no fool. I know these are people writing it,” he said.

If you missed it, Jonathan‘s role in the movie set up another part of the MCU, which we’ll be seeing later in the year.
