Will Smith has reportedly attempted to make things right with Chris Rock after slapping him across the face on national television during the 2022 Oscars.

The viral, unscripted moment, which happened after Chris made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith while presenting an award, resulted in a 10-year ban from the awards show for the 54-year-old actor.

Chris revisited the moment, lambasting Will during his recent standup special on Netflix.

With the renewed attention on their relationship, a source opened up about Will‘s attempts to make amends behind the scenes.

“He’s tried unsuccessfully to make amends in the best way he could with Chris,” a source told People, noting Will was left feeling “terrible.”

They continued, noting that family helped the actor pull through the difficult time.

“He is better but still remorseful,” they added.

Chris put Will on blast during his comedy special over the weekend.
