HBO's Hit 'Barry' to End with Season 4, Bill Hader Explains Why (Plus, First Teaser Debuts!)

There’s a lot of news about HBO’s hit TV show Barry.

First, unfortunately, the show will be ending after the upcoming fourth season. Bill Hader, the show’s star, explained the reason why and also debuted the trailer and the release date for the new episodes.

Bill told Variety that when he and Alec Berg, his co-creator, began writing the fourth season, “a very clear ending presented itself,” which led them to the decision to end the show now.

He continued, “What happens in Season 4 is structurally radical in some ways, but it made sense for what I think the characters needed to go through, and what I think the whole show is always kind of headed towards. You realize, well, we could pad a lot of stuff, and just make story. But if we’re going forward, it ends in Season 4.”

The new season debuts on April 16, 2023. Henry Winkler, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, Stephen Root, D’Arcy Carden and Michael Irby also star.
