All five of the contenders – Austin Butler (Elvis), Bill Nighy (Living), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Paul Mescal (Aftersun) and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) – received their first nominations in the category and have gotten no shortage of love at other awards shows leading up to the eve of the Oscars.
