'Fiddler On The Roof' Star Chaim Topol Dies at Age 87

Chaim Topol has sadly passed away at the age of 87.

The lifelong actor is best known for his role as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, both on stage and screen.

According to Deadline, Chaim passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease in Tel Aviv on Thursday, March 10. [NOTE: Tel Aviv is 7 hours ahead of the Eastern Time Zone in the US]

Also known as just Topol, in addition to Fiddler on the Roof, he was also known for his roles in Flash Gordon, SeaQuest 2032, and For Your Eyes Only.

Deadline adds that he “began his acting career while completing his IDF service in the army’s entertainment troupe where he met his wife, Galia. After that he joined a theater group” which led to his first film role.
