Lucy Liu Reveals She Speaks Parseltongue in 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods'

Lucy Liu steps out in a gorgeous floral dress for the next premiere of Shazam! Fury of the Gods premiere in Toronto, Canada.

Joined by Zachary Levi, the two actors met up with a ton of fans at the screening on Wednesday night (March 8).

In a recent interview, Lucy opened up about stepping into the shoes of Kalypso, one of the daughters of Atlas, who wages war on Shazam and his pals.

When asked about the origins of Kalypso, who in mythology is actually the one who imprisoned Odysseus in “The Odyssey,” Lucy says that you have to use your imagination.

“You don’t really get the whole slew of information, which I think in some ways is better, because you have a clean slate,” she told SlashFilm.

Later on in the same interview, Lucy opened up about the chaotic language she speaks as Kalypso.

“It’s supposed to be chaos,” she noted. “I asked David [F. Sandberg, director] what it should be, and he was like, ‘It doesn’t really matter. So you can say whatever you want.’”

When co-star Rachel asked her if she actually was speaking Parseltongue, Lucy said she did.

“I went, ‘Let me bring in Harry Potter for this.’”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods opens on Friday, March 17.
