Jane Fonda Incites Conservative Outrage After Jokingly Recommending 'Murder' in Response to Anti-Abortion Laws

Jane Fonda attracted conservative ire and outrage after making a joke while on The View.

The 85-year-old actress and longtime activist delivered a headline-grabbing soundbite while discussing the overturning of Roe v. Wade and laws limiting access to abortion care on the show on Friday (March 10).

When asked how to respond to that as a pro-choice activist, she joked that “murder” was a possibility.

“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body. Of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives,” Jane said during the interview segment with her friend Lily Tomlin.

“We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are, we’re not going back,” she added. “It is the truth. We’re not gonna do it. We’re gonna fight.”

When asked how to fight back, Jane jokingly suggested “murder.” The hosts instantly predicted that the quote would be the one viewers focused on, and they were correct.

Jane Fonda (and many Democrats) want you and me ‘murdered’ for fighting to protect the most innocent in the womb,” controversial Republican House member Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted shortly thereafter. “Sounds like they want us dead.”

Others took to Twitter with similar messages so that Jane‘s name trended on the app.
