There Were 2 Taylor Swift References in You's New Episodes - Did You Catch the Subtle One?

The final half of Netflix’s You arrived on the platform this week, and it contained two refences to Taylor Swift.

While even a casual fan had to catch the tribute to the pop star in the finale, it would take a very dedicated Swiftie to catch the first tribute.

We’ll break down both of the clips in case you missed either!

Let’s start with the more obvious reference to Taylor: Her song “Anti-Hero” plays in the final episode of the season.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that “Anti-Hero” has been associated with You. The show’s star Penn Badgley made his TikTok debut with a funny clip of himself that used the track. Penn opened up about the decision in a recent interview.

The second reference to Taylor is the sort of Easter egg that would impress the pop star. After all, she is renowned for sneaking subtle clues and tributes into everything she drops.

In the penultimate episode of the show, Penn‘s character Joe entered a code to get into a cage. Do the numbers 1, 2, 1, 3, 8, 9 mean anything to you? They should if you’re a Swiftie.

“The code to the cage is Taylor Swift‘s birthday,” Penn told Variety.

Did you catch that reference? Let us know!

Penn recently revealed what his character Joe would think about Taylor. He also hinted at how many seasons of the show he’d like to do.
