Dylan Mulvaney Reveals How Laverne Cox's Candid Comments Have Affected Her New TikTok Posting Strategy

Dylan Mulvaney is opening up about those candid comments that Laverne Cox made to her at the Grammys and how she’s changed her TikTok posting strategy because of the advice.
The 26-year-old TikTok star, who just celebrated 365 days of being a girl, met fellow transgender icon Laverne in early February.
Dylan revealed in a video that Laverne was on her vision board for 2023 and that she was so happy to meet her.

In the clip, Laverne told Dylan, “It’s insane that you’re like documenting so much of your life. Make sure you keep things for yourself. Everything cannot be for the public. They love it but everything cannot be for them.”
While being interviewed for a new episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Dylan talked about how the advice affected her.
“She said to keep some things private for myself and I couldn’t agree more in the way that there were a few moments this year where I was like, ‘Was I actually ready to say that?’ But now since meeting her and having that moment I go, ‘Okay what would Laverne do?’ and I actually have stopped myself from making a few videos to make sure that I was actually ready to talk about those things,” Dylan said.
Drew responded, “And how does it feel, has that wisdom guided you in ways that you’re glad you heard it or you’re still figuring that out?”
Laverne replied, “Still figuring it out but I think back to my childhood self and I think about if I was following myself on TikTok as a young kid what would I want to hear, or you know so much of my audience is a younger demographic and I would love to show transness in a way that we haven’t seen it before because I figured when I came out that I might have to go into hiding and do all my surgeries privately and change my name and I instead decided, ‘Hey let me see if the world is willing to accept me this way from day one’ and they did.”
