Aaron Rodgers Confirms Jets Rumors, Intends to Leave Green Bay Packers to Play Quarterback in New York

Aaron Rodgers has announce he intends to play for the New York Jets in 2023!

The 39-year-old former NFL MVP has been facing several rumors this offseason including if he’ll be retiring or if he’d be traded from the Green Bay Packers.

Well, on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday (March 15), Aaron personally announced his intention to leave Green Bay, the team that drafted him in 2005, and play on the New York Jets.

Aaron said on the show that he went into his infamous “darkness retreat” for a few days where he spent time disconnected from the world in the dark thinking he was going to retire. He was told by the Packers before the retreat that they intended for him to still be their quarterback should he choose to play. Aaron noted that “something happened” after the retreat where he heard the Packers were looking to trade him. He says he has no bad blood. He did call it “bittersweet.”

There has been rumors of growing tension between the Packers organization and Aaron, 39. In 2020, the Packers used their first round draft pick to select Jordan Love, a young quarterback prospect. It is now assumed that the Packers might be ready to move on from Aaron and start Jordan at quarterback.

So far, we don’t know any details and a deal hasn’t been officially made, but the Jets have to now work out contract details.
