Niall Horan Uses Harry Styles Connection to Get 'The Voice' Contestant On His Team

Niall Horan knows it’s not what you know, but who you know.

The 29-year-old One Direction singer is a coach on season of the U.S. version of The Voice.

Contestant Laura Littleton sang Harry Styles‘ song “Sign of the Times” for her audition.

While hearing the audition, Kelly Clarkson turned her chair ahead of Blake Shelton and used her block on him, but then realized she should have used her block on Niall.

While Niall began talking to Laura, Kelly whispered, “Should have blocked Niall.”

“‘Sign of the Times,’ when it came out, it wasn’t your obvious pop song,” Niall said to Laura. “It was a bit alt, off to the left a bit, and that’s what you scream. There’s so many different artists, so many different genres I could hear you sing.”

“I can hear you singing rock. I can hear you singing all sorts [of genres], Niall said. “When I turned around and see how much fun you were having,
I was like, ‘This — This girl.’”

After Laura deliberated and decided to choose Niall, he said, “Laura was incredible. She had so much energy. She just sounded like she was a performer.”

Niall recently showed an impersonation of fellow coach Blake Shelton in a recent interview and it was met with mixed reviews.
