Ryan Reynolds’ Mint Mobile Sells For Over $1 Billion, Jokes His Mom Was Second Highest Bidder

Ryan Reynolds‘ Mint Mobile has just been acquired.

The 46-year-old Deadpool actor released a video sharing that his company, of which he is a minority owner, has been acquired by T-Mobile in a deal valued at up to $1.35 billion.

“Mint Mobile is the best deal in wireless and today’s news only enhances our ability to deliver for our customers,” Ryan said in a statement Wednesday.

“We are so happy T-Mobile beat out an aggressive last-minute bid from my mom Tammy Reynolds as we believe the excellence of their 5G network will provide a better strategic fit than my mom’s slightly-above-average mahjong skills. I am so proud of the entire Mint team and so excited for what’s to come,” Ryan joked.

In the video Ryan announces the acquisition with T-Mobile’s CEO Mike Sievert.

“Mint has run on T-Mobile’s network since its inception. And the reason people have such a great experience with Mint is due to the T-Mobile network, especially its unrivaled lead in 5G,” Ryan said.

“We are so happy to have you and the whole Mint team join the T-Mobile family,” Mike said.

“Ha! Well I wouldn’t call it a family, Mike. Family is the place for misdirected hopes and dreams. I’m hoping this will be much better than that,” Ryan joked.

“Over the long-term, we’ll also benefit from applying the marketing formula Mint has become famous for across more parts of T-Mobile,” Mike Sievert said in a statement. “We think customers are really going to win with a more competitive and expansive Mint and Ultra.”

T-Mobile reached a deal to acquire Ka’ena Corporation, the parent company of Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile, as well as wireless wholesaler Plum.
