Auli'i Cravalho Reveals The Reason For Red Handprint On Her Face at 'The Power' Premiere

Auli’i Cravalho got everyone’s attention at the premiere of The Power in New York City on Thursday night (March 23).

The 22-year-old actress walked the red carpet wearing a pretty Naeem Khan dress, and also painted a red handprint on her face, which symbolizes something near and dear to her.

Auli’i explained to ET that the red handprint is in honor of No More Stolen Sisters.

“I’m grateful to wear Naeem Khan as a dress, and I’m also representing No More Stolen sisters, and bringing light to murdered and Indigenous women,” she shared with the outlet.

She adds that the cast was “lucky enough to be filming in Vancouver for The Power, and I saw many a monument about it, and I’m so grateful to be working on a film based on female empowerment.”

“I felt like I had to put my money where my mouth was,” Auli’i shared.

Auli’i joined her co-stars John Leguizamo, Toni Collette, Gerrison Machado, Zrinka Cvitesic, Toheeb Jimoh, Edwina Findley, Anissa Matlock, Halle Bush, Pietra Castro, Elise Robertson, Eddie Marsan, Heather Agyepong, and Ria Zmitrowicz for the premiere.

Here’s the summary for the series: The Power is our world, but for one twist of nature. Suddenly, and without warning, teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people at will.

The series features a cast of remarkable characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power evolves from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the power balance of the world.

The Power will premiere on Prime Video on March 31.
