Sheryl Lee Ralph Says She Was Sexually Assaulted by 'Famous TV Judge,' Discusses Why the Assault was Covered Up

Sheryl Lee Ralph opened up about being a victim of sexual assault.

The 66-year-old Abbott Elementary star spoke about times when men behaved inappropriately while appearing on the Way Up with Angela Yee podcast.

She alleged that situation involved a man who was a “famous TV judge” and discussed how it happened. While she didn’t name the man in question, she clarified one person that she was not talking about.

“I’m at a very public place. I was suited. I had my suit on. I was handling my business for the television show I was on at that time. He and I were on the same network,” she said about the moment.

“This man walked in, grabbed me by the back of my neck, turned me around and rammed his nasty a-s tongue down my throat,” she continued, noting that it happened in front of everyone else from the network.

The mayor of New Orleans approached her after it happened and asked if she wanted him to call the police.

“Somebody at the network called me. They said, ‘Please don’t,’” she recalled. “Do you know that they did not want any bad press around their show and did not care what had just happened to me.”

“That’s the kind of stuff that happens,” Sheryl said.

While the identity of the man was not revealed, Sheryl very clearly stated that she was not speaking about Judge Greg Mathis.

“I love him,” she said, “He’s a great man.”

In another situation, Sheryl recalled calling out another man who behaved incorrectly well after the fact.

“I had to let him know what he did that night,” she said. “I had to confront him about it.”

The “shocking” part was that “everyone around the table was appalled that I would stand up for myself. They were appalled. They told me that I should be ashamed of myself.”

Now, she urged others to “Speak up” and “Tell your truth.”

“Do not carry the burden of the pain,” she added.

If you missed it, Sheryl reacted to a controversy after her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl.
