After serving as co-showrunner for the first four seasons, Sara Gamble is stepping down to focus on other projects, but she will remain on as an executive producer, Deadline reports.

Sara and Greg Berlanti developed the show based on the Alloy books by Caroline Kepnes.

You executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, who have been on the series since season one and season two, respectively, will now be taking over as co-showrunners.

In a statement, Greg and producing partner Sarah Schechter called Sara “the most brilliant writer and partner,” while revealing that they always planned on You running for five seasons.

“We intend to bring her every idea we can from our company for years to come,” Greg and Sarah said. “Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey. We are excited to continue our relationship with Mike and Justin as they take over the reins as co-showrunners and prepare to bring Joe Goldberg home.”

As viewers can recall, part two of season four of You ended as a full circle moment for Joe (Badgley), who – joined by rich widow Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) – returned to New York City, where the series started back in season one.

In a recent interview, Penn opened up about the end of You.
