Brian Cox Backtracks On Comments He Made About Prince Harry & Meghan Markle

Just last week, Brian Cox opened up and shared his thoughts about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Succession actor spoke to Haute Living New York about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leaving their working royal life behind for life in the United States, putting their mental health and family first over royal duty.

“…You can’t go into a system where somebody’s already been trained to behave in a certain kind of way and then just expect them to cut themselves off,” he shared about Meghan joining the Windsors, before she and Harry made the decision to leave.

Brian added that “she knew what she was getting into, and there’s an ambition there clearly as well — the childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that s*** we see as fantasy that could be our lives in our dreams. I’m a Cinderella person, you know.”

Now though, Brian is backtracking on his comments.

Brian is now saying that comments were taken out of context.

During a new interview with Radio Times, via Page Six, he’s “angry” about how his comments were construed.

“I’m a bit angry about that because that whole thing has been taken out of context,” he shared, and insists he has” enormous sympathy for them. They’re the product of an institution which is moribund and shouldn’t exist anymore.”

He continued that it’s a “difficult situation where [Meghan] comes from, and it’s understandable that she sees something [appealing] – and it does look like a fairy tale. But it was a fairytale that went horribly wrong.”

“I think they’re victims,” Brian said.

Prince Harry is currently back in the UK, attending the trial for his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Ltd. Read what the latest development is…
