'General Hospital' Star Maurice Benard Has Emotional Reunion with Daugher Who Serves in Air Force - Watch Now

It was a very emotional episode of Tamron Hall.

On Thursday (March 30), Maurice Benard appeared on the daytime talk show to commemorate General Hospital‘s 60th anniversary.

While the episode started out as normal, with Tamron asking the 60-year-old actor about his life and career, she then brought up his daughter Heather Andresen, who serves in Air Force.

“Oh, don’t do that,” Maurice said getting teary-eyed as a photo of Heather appeared on screen.

As Maurice began to tell a story about Heather, Tamron stopped him.

“You’re not the only one who made a special trip today,” Tamron started. “She wanted to be here —because I know it was rough getting on that plane and coming here — your daughter, Airman First Class Heather Andresen.”

Heather then came out on stage and she and Maurice shared an emotional hug as he broke down in tears.

The father-daughter-duo haven’t seen each other since October 2022 due to her military service. This is also the first time Maurice has seen Heather in her Air Force uniform.

“These surprises kill me,” Maurice said, who turned away to cry.

“You’ve got to look up to see her in uniform for the first time!” Tamron encouraged Maurice, who was covering his tear-filled eyes.

“I am so proud of her. I can’t talk, so can I leave?” Maurice joked.

Heather is Maurice‘s wife Paula Smith‘s half-sister and they adopted her when she was 15-years-old.

“You were adopted by your half-sister, Maurice’s beautiful wife, and that changed the trajectory of your lives,” Tamron shared.

“The most beautiful thing that I shouldn’t say, because I’m not going to be able to talk…” Maurice said through tears. “When we adopted her, we were talking in the room, and Paula, my wife, and her were talking about how happy we were, and at one point [Heather] said, ‘Can I call you mom?’”

“We just wanted to share this moment because you are a remarkable person…a good soul, a good human,” Tamron added through tears.

Earlier this week, Maurice and his General Hospital paid tribute to their late co-star Sonya Eddy in a special episode.
