Netflix Cancels 'Sex/Life' After Two Seasons & Just Two Days After Sarah Shahi's Surprising Comments

Netflix has canceled the steamy series Sex/Life after just two seasons and the news comes just two days after star Sarah Shahi made some surprising comments about the show.

The second season, which premiered in early March, ended in a way that all of the storylines were neatly wrapped up and fans could be satisfied by the conclusion. Still, series creator Stacy Rukeyser has opened up about her hopes for a third season and where the story could go.

So, what happened? And what were Sarah‘s comments about the show?

Deadline reports that a Netflix spokesperson told them that “the second season brought the series to a natural close, wrapping up the storyline for key characters whose relationships come to a happy conclusion, adding the streamer is proud of the show and the work put in to it by producers, cast and crew.”

It’s not surprising that Sex/Life has been canceled after reading Sarah‘s comments the other day. She also has already booked a new TV role.

Sarah said that she struggled with the material she was given for season two and called out the “gimmicky” content.

“I definitely did not have the support that I did in the first season from the people involved in the show,” she said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. “It became a much different thing for me — and I’m not afraid to say that.”

She went on, saying that she knows she’s “not always going to get along or agree with a filmmaker. I’m not always going to like what I have to do or say. But that’s my job, to make it believable.”

“[There were] more moments that felt very gimmicky,” she says, and noted she “couldn’t get behind” the direction the show was going from that. “I’m never going to work for Netflix again now after saying all this, but I can’t lie.”

Sarah also was upset that she didn’t get to work with co-star and real-life boyfriend Adam Demos more in season two.

“I really liked our stories and I like working with him,” she said. “He was a brilliant scene partner. [In Season 2,] I was working so much and he was working so little. He’s, like, in 60 seconds of the entire thing. I never saw him.”
