We love seeing Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer back together!
The Oscar-winning actresses worked together in The Help and Viola was on hand to honor Octavia at City Year Los Angeles’ Spring Break: Destination Education Event on Saturday (May 6) at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, Calif.
Octavia and Los Angeles Rams COO Kevin Demoff, who are both City Year LA board members, were honored at the event.
Octavia received her honor for “advocacy and commitment to the thousands of children across Los Angeles public schools who benefit directly from having a City Year mentor.”
Other celebs in attendance at the event included Tiffany Haddish, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Chloe Bailey, who gave a special musical performance.
“What a night! I have been going to @cityyearla’s Spring Break event since 2011 and every year I am absolutely blown away. The work being done to help children in our Los Angeles schools is incredible. I know how essential education is and I am honored to be a small part of this team. This is exactly why I knew I needed to be on the board for #CityYearLA and support this organization in any way that I can. I’m unfathomably grateful to have been recognized last night by City Year LA—it is I who applauds you. Thank you so much to everyone who did such a beautiful job putting this wonderful event together,” Octavia wrote on Instagram.
