Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Her Reaction To The Real Craigslist Ad That Inspired 'No Hard Feelings'

Jennifer Lawrence is sharing just how she reacted to the real ad that inspired her new movie, No Hard Feelings.

The 34-year-old actress stars as Maddie, who, on the brink of losing her childhood home, agrees to date a wealthy couple’s introverted and awkward 19-year-old son before he leaves for college.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the movie, Jennifer opened up about what she thought about the real ad that was posted to Craigslist that inspired the movie.

During the conversation with the outlet alongside director Gene Stupnitsky, Jennifer admitted that she thought it was “hilarious.”

“I read it, and I thought, ‘This is wild. Who is the woman that answers this ad?’” Gene shared first, adding “I thought, ‘Oh, that’ll be a great role for my friend Jennifer Lawrence.’”

Jennifer chimed in then, saying “Gene read the Craigslist ad to me, and I died laughing…I thought it was hilarious, but there wasn’t a script or anything. I just thought he had a funny idea. And then a couple years later, he handed me the funniest script I’ve ever read in my life.”

She also shared that Matthew Broderick‘s wig was her favorite part of the movie, too.

“I felt bad because it was my first time meeting Matthew, and I just couldn’t stop laughing when I was looking at him,” she said, noting that his wig – long, gray, and slightly curly – was something to look at.
