Cindy Busby Dishes On How She Became Hallmark Channel's Nature Movie Queen (Exclusive)

Unofficially, Cindy Busby is the nature queen of Hallmark Channel movies.

When you look back at all the movies she’s made for the network, you’ll find a handful of nature and adventure based themes, including Chasing Waterfalls, Warming Up To You, and her newest one, Lion in Zion National.

During Just Jared‘s interview with Cindy, she opened up about how all the nature movies seem to just find her, and why she’s not complaining.

“It’s so interesting because it kind of started around the time I did Chasing Waterfalls. It was such a wonderful experience on that one, obviously, and that was done in 2020,” Cindy told us, hinting that the year had a great deal to do with why it was more outdoors than indoors. Being outside then, was just a great time to be in the outdoors and fresh air.”

Following that movie, which teamed her up with frequent co-star Christopher Russell, “they just kind of kept coming my way and I’m super grateful for it because I love the outdoors, I love nature.”

“There’s something super therapeutic about it. People just…they gravitate toward it, you know, of a mother nature and getting to see different parts of the world that perhaps they haven’t seen,” Cindy went on. “It may inspire fans so they can plan their next trip, and so if I can be kind of a vessel for them to do that, it’s great.”

Cindy then joked about how she does “get to benefit from it by going to all these incredible places. I wouldn’t consider myself like the most outdoorsy person, but I certainly love being outdoors, and these movies have definitely given me a greater appreciation for it all.”

As for any future outdoor movies, she’s all in.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love the indoors too, but hey, I also love working and I love working with amazing people. So when those opportunities come, I just take it,” she says.

Cindy went on about her nature movie-themed resume, saying that “each one of these projects is always super unique in that you always walk away with so many incredible memories, and oftentimes that’s done through the cast and crew that I get to work with among the outdoor experience.”

“It always holds a very special place in my heart. [The stories] tend to kind of put themselves in their own compartmentalization in my memory,” she then told us, noting she knows how to tell each one apart still. “Somehow I’ve managed to do that, but ask me again in 40 years, and I don’t know, I might, I might tell you it all blends in together.”

Cindy‘s upcoming movie, Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance, will premiere this coming weekend on Hallmark Channel.
