Max Verstappen & Sergio Perez Are Still Leaders Of The Pack Ahead of F1 Monaco Grand Prix - Full Formula One Leaderboard

The point-scoring system in Formula 1 is actually very simple – the greater your finishing position, the higher the number of points you earn.

In Formula 1, the first-place finisher in each race is awarded 25 points, followed by 18 points for the runner-up, 15 points for the third-place holder on the podium, and 12 for the fourth place finisher.

Following that, there are two points that separate each spot until the 10th spot, which only gains 1 point.

The system also includes provisions where if a driver and team managed to achieve the fastest lap, they are granted an extra point, provided that they finished among the top 10 positions eligible for point scoring.

There are a maximum of 672 points throughout the season, factoring in the 24 Grand Prixes, as well as the six sprint races.
