Chris Licht Is Out As Chairman & Chief Executive of CNN After One-Year Tenure

Chris Licht will be leaving CNN after just one year as chief executive and chairman.

The 51-year-old producer began leading CNN in February 2022 after the abrupt resignation of Jeff Zucker.

Chris received criticism in recent weeks after the network hosted a town hall with former president Donald Trump.

Keep reading to find out more…“I met with Chris and he will be leaving CNN,” David Zaslav, the chief executive of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, told CNN employees.

“For a number of reasons things didn’t work out and that’s unfortunate,” Zaslav said. “It’s really unfortunate. And ultimately that’s on me. And I take full responsibility for that.”

On June 2, The Atlantic recently published an unflattering, in-depth profile on Licht, titled “Inside the Meltdown at CNN.” On Monday, June 5, Chris apologized to CNN staff and vowed to do better.

Zazlav said the interim leadership team will be comprised of Amy Entelis, Virginia Moseley, Eric Sherling, and David Leavy.

If you didn’t see, Don Lemon claimed that when he was fired by CNN in April, it was through his agent and no one at the news network “had the decency to tell me directly.”
