Michelle Obama is very happy that she’s a girl mom.

While opening up about her life as mom to daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23, on the June 18 episode of her IMO podcast, the 61-year-old former First Lady explained why she’s “so glad” that she and husband Barack Obama didn’t have a son.

“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama. I would’ve felt for him,” Michelle admitted, saying there would’ve been too much pressure for a son to follow in her husband’s footsteps.

Michelle‘s brother, and podcast co-host, Craig Robinson – who shares son Avery, 33, and daughter Leslie, 29, with ex-wife Janis Robinson along with sons Austin, 15, and Aaron, 13, with wife Kelly Mccrum — then joked that Michelle “just borrowed our boys.”

“I got plenty,” the Becoming author agreed.

Michelle then went on to gush over parenting her daughters.

“I’ve loved every phase of parenting,” she said. “I loved them when they were little babies, I loved them when they were walking and starting to talk, the teenage years were interesting in the White House.”

“But I’ve loved every time with them, and watching them become their own people and make their own choices, and figure stuff out, and call me after they figure stuff out,” Michelle added.

She also recently addressed Malia‘s decision to professionally drop her last name.
