Leonardo DiCaprio Sports Mustache at Oscars 2026: Here’s Why

Nominee Leonardo DiCaprio walked the red carpet at the 2026 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 15) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, just before the broadcast kicked off.
The 51-year-old actor is nominated for his work in One Battle After Another.
You’ll notice that Leonardo is sporting a mustache at the event. Well, fans think they know the reason why!
Leonardo has actually been in Europe recently filming Martin Scorsese‘s new movie What Happens at Night alongside Jennifer Lawrence. A leaked set photo shows him with a mustache!
The ghost story stems from the Peter Cameron novel, which was released in 2020, and follows “an American couple who travel to a strange, snowy European city to adopt a baby.” What Happens at Night does not yet have a release date, but stay tuned.
The Oscars ceremony is being hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien for the second year in a row. Sinners broke a record for most nominations for a movie in a single year, with 16 nods.
FYI: Leonardo is wearing Dior. His pin is a nod to Bee:wild, a science-powered not-for-profit movement, under the Re:wild umbrella, in which he is a founding board member of. The pin represents a global fight to “Bring the Buzz Back” by restoring pollinating life across our cities, gardens, and farms.
