Kim Kardashian Wears Sculpted Breastplate, Completed in an Auto Shop, for Met Gala 2026
Kim Kardashian hits the carpet in a sculpted look for the at the 2026 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 4) in New York City.
The 45-year-old The Kardashians star and actress donned a sculpted breastplate for her 13th appearance at the annual event.
What is Kim Kardashian wearing?
Kim is wearing a custom sculpted breastplate by British artist Allen Jones with a skirt by Whitaker Malem and heels by Christian Louboutin.
“I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I’ve always been, like, a big admirer of his work,” she told Vogue of her look.
On deciding for what she was going to wear this year, she said, “Allen Jones would be iconic. Sexy. Classic. Cool. Innovative.”
Kim‘s tangerine fiberglass breastplate was actually repurposed from a casting Allen Jones made in the 1960s.
“I wanted something original, I didn’t want to cast my own body,” she said.
How long did it take to complete the piece?
According to Vogue, it took three weeks to finish, from the sourcing of the fiberglass to even painting it an auto body shop!
The piece was originally a full body cast, but Kim had it shortened to allow for more movement. Then, for the bottom of the look, Patrick Whitaker and Keir Malem of Whitaker Malem created a leather skirt.
The skirt also features sunset orange brush strokes by Allen Jones.
“He was adamant that it be something current and fresh that he had just worked on – not just a piece from his past,” Kim explained.
