Dita Von Teese Reveals How She Deals with Social Media Trolls
Dita Von Teese is on the cover of Gay Times‘ newest issue.
Here’s what the 46-year-old burlesque star had to share with the mag…
On social media hate: “You have to stop reading the comments, because once you don’t read them and they don’t get a response, it doesn’t affect you. They get bored and go harass someone else. I cleaned up all my social media by not looking at it for the most part, and that’s unfortunate because I like to read what my fans say. Now I have my own official app, and it’s like a glamour club, and that’s where I engage with my fans personally.”
On #MeToo: “With regard to the #MeToo movement, it’s an amazing opportunity for conversation. It’s about time we are able to open up and talk about it. I think a lot of good men didn’t really realise what it’s like to be a woman. We all have these experiences of being preyed upon throughout life. We’re watching so many things unfold, whether it’s the big takedowns we’ve seen of men, but we’re also watching women be exposed for bad behaviour as well. It’s an important conversation but it’s also ultimately about how flawed we are and how we wield sexual power in different ways.”
