Miley Cyrus won the award for Video of the Year at the at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, but she did something special for her acceptance speech to raise awareness for homeless people.

The 21-year-old singer had a homeless man go on stage to accept the award she won for her “Wrecking Ball” video.

“All over this city I’ve cleaned your hotel rooms. I’ve been an extra in your movies. I’ve been an extra in life,” the man said. “Though I may have been invisible to you on the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought you here tonight. Los Angeles, entertainment capitol, has the largest percentage of homeless youth in America. The music industry will make over $7 billion this year and outside these doors are 54,000 who have no place to call home. Dylan O’Brien keeps his shades on while arriving at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (August 24) in Inglewood, Calif.

The 22-year-old Teen Wolf actor was joined by his co-stars Tyler Posey, Dylan Sprayberry, Arden Cho and Holland Roden, plus Tyler‘s bride-to-be Seana Gorlick.

Nicki Minaj covers herself and has a shocked look on her face while realizing she is in the midst of a wardrobe malfunction during the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (August 24) in Inglewood, Calif.

The 31-year-old entertainer appeared to have a split in her dress in the front and she had to cover it up with her hands. We’re glad she was able to keep it together!

Nicki was on stage to perform her song “Bang Bang” alongside her collaborators Ariana Grande and Jessie J to open the show.

Darren Criss hits up the red carpet at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (August 24) in Inglewood, Calif.

“Good evening, Inglewood. Excited to be at the first VMAs at the awesome new Forum,” the 27-year-old Glee actor tweeted.

While at the show, Darren decided to live-Tweet some of his favorite moments from his seat.

“Thanks @5SOS for giving me the OPPOSITE of Amnesia- remembering how awesome these kinda jams were in the late 90s. And I still love em #VMAs,” he tweeted.

A short tribute for the late Robin Williams just played during the 2014 MTV VMAs.

The 63-year-old actor passed away suddenly in a suicide from hanging earlier this month and shocked the world.

The tribute consisted of a short montage of pictures of Robin with Coldplay‘s “A Sky Full of Stars” playing simultaneously.
