The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the biggest fashion shows of the year and the musical performances this year did not disappoint!

This years show featured performances from Halsey, Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers with Kelsea Ballerini, The Struts, and Leela James.

Behati Prinsloo, one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels, is defending the fashion show amid some controversy about inclusion.

If you don’t know, chief marketing officer Ed Razek made some recent comments about the show when he said, “Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us.” The brand has also come under fire for not including models of all sizes in the runway presentation.

Behati was asked by Elle, “We’re in the midst of a major body positivity movement. Where do you think Victoria’s Secret fits in to that?”

“I think Victoria’s Secret embodies a lot of things. There’s a lot of talk about everything but I think people need to also understand that it’s a show. It’s not saying negative or positive about any body type, it’s ‘this is who they are.’ We’re strong, we’re confident, and I think any woman is a Victoria’s Secret woman,” Behati said. “But people also need to understand that it’s just a show. I don’t think that it says that they’re not for a certain type of body. It’s cool to talk about it and great to open up a conversation and so much good has happened. I think it’s a show. Let’s just have fun and not make it about anything and just have a great night and celebrate everyone.”

“We’ve all got a body, nobody looks the same. It’s tough, it’s a hard thing to do because there’s always two sides and I’m just trying to, you know, live my best life,” she added.

Halsey is not happy with Victoria’s Secret after she performed at the 2018 fashion show this year.

The 24-year-old entertainer referred to chief marketing officer Ed Razek‘s recent comments about the show when he said, “Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don’t think we should. Halsey took to Instagram on Sunday (December 2), as the fashion show aired, to make her thoughts known.

“I have adored the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since I was young. Performing this year alongside other amazing artists and hard-working models/friends was supposed to be the best night of my year. However, after I filmed the performance, some comments were made regarding the show that I simply cannot ignore,” she wrote.

“As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have no tolerance for a lack of inclusivity. Especially not one motivated by stereotype. If you’re on my page because you watched my performance tonight, please allow me instead to direct your attention to GLSEN: An organization that offers services aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth. And with respect to those youth targeted by these comments in a world where they have been made to feel ‘other,’ I have made a sizeable donation in their honor,” Halsey continued.

“If you are a trans person reading this, and these comments have made you feel alienated or invalidated please know that you have allies. We stand in solidarity,” she added.

The Victoria’s Secret Angels were all in attendance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Viewing Party at Spring Studios on Sunday night (December 2) in New York City.

Shanina Shaik, Winnie Harlow, Devon Windsor, Kelly Gale, Lorena Rae, Georgia Fowler, Sadie Newman and Alexina Graham were all in attendance at the viewing party as well.

While dozens of models appear at the show each year, only a select few of them have an “Angel” contract. These models are contracted to make appearances for Victoria’s Secret throughout the year and prioritize VS jobs over other ones.

Adriana Lima walked in her final show as an Angel this year after 20 years with the brand.

Elsa Hosk, who has been an Angel since 2015, was chosen to wear the coveted Fantasy Bra this year.

The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is set to take place tonight on ABC!

If you don’t know, the annual lingerie show was actually filmed last month and will be airing for the first time this evening.

In addition to the usual Angels walking the runway, lots of other recognizable faces also modeled in the big event.
