Glastonbury Festival 2020 Cancelled Due To Coronavirus Pandemic!

The U.K.’s Glastonbury Music Festival has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

The festival confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that the event, which was set to take place from 24-28 June at its usual home of Worthy Farm in Somerset, was off “following the new government measures announced this week – and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty – this is now our only viable option.”

This was to be the 50th-anniversary edition of Glastonbury, and the bill included Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Pet Shop Boys, Dua Lipa, and Noel Gallagher among many others. The festival organizers didn’t unveil the full lineup until last week, and they wrote that they had “fingers firmly crossed” that the festival would be able to happen as planned.

Also in the letter posted on Twitter this morning, festival founder Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily said that although they hoped the situation in the UK would have improved by the end of June, it was not viable to spend the next three months with thousands of crew on the farm, and 2020 would therefore be “an enforced fallow year. We are so sorry to announce this, but Glastonbury 2020 will have to be cancelled, and this will be an enforced fallow year for the festival.”

Glastonbury Festival Announces 2020 Lineup Amid Coronavirus Fears - See Who's Performing!

The 2020 Glastonbury Festival is still moving ahead, despite tons of postponements and cancellations of tours and outdoor events amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Organizers announced the line-up on Thursday (March 12) for the event, set to take place on June 24-28 at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England, with a precautionary message.

“So, after much consideration given the current circumstances, and with the best of intentions, here is the first list of musical acts for Glastonbury 2020. ⁣⁣As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so. No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!⁣⁣ As always this is just a taste of what is to come, we plan to announce many more artists and attractions, area by area, over the coming weeks leading up to the full line-up in May. ⁣⁣ In the meantime we post this with much love to all,” organizer Emily Eavis wrote.

Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Diana Ross, Camila Cabello and Lana Del Rey are just a few of the names set to appear.
