Alicia Keys‘ performance of the classic song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” aired during the 2021 Super Bowl pre-game show!

The performance was originally aired by the NFL back in September 2020 and there was a narration from actor Anthony Mackie.

If you didn’t know, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” is a poem that was written in 1900 by James Weldon Johnson to celebrate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. The poem was set to music by James’ brother and the song was adopted as the “Negro National Anthem” by the NAACP over a hundred years ago.

“Lift every voice and sing, Till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty, Let our rejoicing rise,” the song begins.

The Weeknd has been known for his heavily bandaged face during performances in the past few months, and now, he’s explaining the significance of the bandages.

The Weeknd seemed to be playing a character on a journey in his album, After Hours. In his latest music video for “Save Your Tears,” he finally took off his fake bandages just a few weeks ago and revealed this heavily bandaged persona had undergone plastic surgery.

He finally explained why his album, After Hours, had featured so much of this bandaged person in a new interview.

The Weeknd shared with Variety, “The significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated.”

When asked why he had been promoting his biggest album to date with a persona in heavy bandages, he responded, “I suppose you could take that being attractive isn’t important to me but a compelling narrative is.”

Whether the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win or lose the Super Bowl LV tonight, Tom Brady already knows what he’s doing after the game.

During an interview with ET Canada, the 43-year-old quarterback shared that he’ll be at home with his kids.

“I’ll be surrounded by my kids,” he shared. “The best part about winning is having the people that have helped you get there and supported you there with you to enjoy it.”

Tom adds that “some of the best memories I’ve had in my life were being with my kids right after the Super Bowl and celebrating with them so I hope we have that experience on Sunday.”

He also revealed that ahead of the game, he was actually home alone as wife Gisele Bundchen and their kids, Benjamin, 11, and Vivian, 8, left so he could get his head in the game.

“My family won’t get back in town until Saturday,” he revealed. “I really had an empty house for what will be 12 days leading up to the game. That’s the most time I’ve had to really focus on what I need to do from a football standpoint.”

Tom continued, “I have time to get my body right. There’s been no travel for our team. It’s a home game. That’s very different. We’re staying at our own home. That’s very different. You don’t have to eat hotel food for a week, that’s very different. The stadium will be, I don’t know… 25,000 people. That will be different.”

The answer may surprise you because very often, the quarterbacks are the highest-paid players on NFL teams.

Well, Tom Brady, the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is the highest paid player on his team but NOT the highest paid player on the field. Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, is no where near the highest paid player on the field this year. In fact, his salary is exceptionally low.

Everyone loves Super Bowl commercials – but do you know how much they cost?

There are tons of ads airing on Sunday (February 7) during the big game – which brings in over 100 million viewers annually – with many spots featuring A-list superstars. And there are big bucks behind those commercials from the brands and organizations involved!

The advertisements will cost them at least a seven-figure amount: CBS opened the bidding for 30-second commercial spots for Super Bowl 55 at $5.6 million, which was the average cost of the same length advertisement for last year’s game, via Sporting News.

CBS didn’t sell out until late January, and not all the ads went for that bidding price, which different from last year, when Fox sold out by November. Scotts Miracle-Gro bought a spot for $5.5 million in January, according to AdWeek.

To be featured in the CBS live stream, companies needed to pay an additional $300,000 according to the outlet.

In 2020, a 30-secon commercial cost about $5.6 million. Companies going for more than 30 seconds will expect to pay even more.

The cost of a commercial at the first Super Bowl was reportedly $37,500 in 1967, based on Nielsen Media Research.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to play in the 2021 Super Bowl in just a few hours and you have to see how supportive and sweet his fiancee, Brittany Matthews, is!

Firstly, you should know that the couple have been together since high school! They remained a couple throughout college, where Patrick played quarterback at Texas Tech, and they moved to Kansas City together when he was drafted by the Chiefs a few years ago.

Since landing in Kansas City, the couple moved into a gorgeous home together (you have to see pics of this house!) and are now expecting their first child together! Brittany and Patrick are set to welcome a baby girl so soon.

This is the second year in a row that Patrick is playing in the Super Bowl and Brittany cheered him on last year, too.
