Sad news for fans of the musical series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist…

The NBC series has just been canceled after two seasons on the air, and it will not be moving to Peacock, Variety reports.

The NBC series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will be wrapping its second season this weekend and we still don’t know if it will be getting a third season.

The network has not yet announced renewal or cancellation news for the fan-favorite show, but fans are still holding out hope for the show to return. (Here are all the shows that HAVE been renewed or canceled by NBC so far)

NBC even released its Fall 2021 schedule and the show is sadly not on it.

The show’s creator Austin Winsberg is opening up about the show possibly moving to Peacock and he explained how this could be a big positive for the series.

The cast of Glee reunited to pay tribute to late co-star Naya Rivera and you can watch the video right here!

16 members of the cast gathered on Zoom to talk about their favorite memories of Naya on the 10-year anniversary of her character Santana Lopez coming out as a lesbian on network TV. The reunion was part of the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards, which aired on Thursday (April 8).

Demi Lovato, who played Santana’s girlfriend Dani on Glee, opened the tribute. She said, “I will always cherish the chance I got to play Naya‘s girlfriend, Dani, on Glee. The character Naya played, Santana Lopez, was groundbreaking for closeted queer girls, like I was at the time. Her ambition and accomplishments inspired Latina women all over the world.”

The cast members who then participated in the reunion included Jacob Artist, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jessalyn Gilsig, Dot-Marie Jones, Vanessa Lengies, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Lauren Potter, Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Becca Tobin, and Jenna Ushkowitz. Notably absent were Lea Michele and Dianna Agron.

The reunion ended with Jessalyn reading a note written by Naya‘s mom.

A Glee reunion is happening! Some of the cast members will participate in the 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards on April 8 as a tribute to the late Naya Rivera and her character Santana Lopez.

Those participating include Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Jenna Ushkowitz, Vanessa Lengies, Jacob Artist, Alex Newell, and Becca Tobin.

Lea Michele‘s name was not included in the Deadline press release, so it is assumed that she will not be participating. Ahead of Naya‘s tragic death, many stars spoke out about Lea‘s behavior on set. Lea is also a new mother.

Dianna Agron‘s name was also not included.

Naya tragically passed away at the age of 33 in a drowning accident in July of 2020.

The 2021 GLAAD Media Awards will be hosted by Niecy Nash. You’ll be able to stream the reunion on YouTube on April 8 at 8pm ET.

Glee actress Alex Newell is reacting to Naya Rivera‘s tragic death at the age of 33 after being found in Lake Piru in California.

Alex shared a video of her and Naya together on Instagram with a caption.

“My heart is broken.. I truly had soo much fun filming this little segment… we both clearly didn’t wanna be there but made the most of it! Naya was truly a star.. one day as I was coming out of hair and make up I saw her sitting at base camp and she said ‘Alex… when you go on tour can you please say ‘everybody say heeeyy Ms. Newell’’ just for me!’ I said absolutely we laughed and had a short little convo about life and music.. I’ll cherish that moment for ever!!” Alex posted.

She added, “I watched her preform with such power, brilliance, and honesty.. While being a light as a person! The love she had for her family and friends was always clear! She will truly be missed! Josey you are loved by all the people who love your mother! My thoughts and prayers are with her family! Rest Sweet Angel.. and Well Done!”

Naya Rivera‘s friends and loved ones gathered at the lake on Monday (July 13) amid news that her body had been found. Our continued thoughts are with her loved ones.

NBC has announced that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has been renewed for a second season!

The series centers on Jane Levy‘s Zoey Clarke, who goes through an unusual event and begins to hear the inner thoughts of people around her though popular songs.

Jane starred alongside Alex Newell, Peter Gallagher, Skylar Astin, John Clarence Stewart, Mary Steenburgen, and Lauren Graham in season one.

SPOILER ALERT: At the end of the first season, Peter‘s character passed away following a battle with the neurological disease progressive supranuclear palsy.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and how much joy it brought to everyone,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues.”

Alex Newell is backing up his friend Samantha Ware‘s allegations against their former Glee co-star Lea Michele.

Samantha took to Twitter on Monday (June 1) and claimed that Lea made her experience on the show a “living hell.”

Alex shared a “get her” GIF in response to the tweet and shared many other GIFs in response to the allegations as well.

One fan asked why Alex took a photo with Lea when she saw him perform in Once on This Island on Broadway in January 2018 and why he returned to the show in season six. He replied, “She was there I was being polite!! Like I was with anyone that came to see my show! Also I know youre not talking about the season I wasn’t in… until I had to ask to come back so I could pay my bills… since I was released mid season five… while being a series regular!”
